What It’s Like Working On An All Female Team

If you head to our team page, you’ll notice we are a team of all women! To be fair, there have been men on our team in the past, and we have nothing against you, gentlemen, but having a team of all women is something special. We are all from different walks of life and at different milestones individually. Still, when we work together, we get the job done! I’ve had the honor and privilege to work with these amazing ladies for several years. I’m incredibly grateful for their professional and personal encouragement during that time. I wanted to get their take on what they like about working on an all-female team.

From Faye:

“I love working in a female-centric office environment! My work world is wonderfully supportive and collaborative in a way that I haven’t experienced in previous job situations. There is also a feeling of teamwork and a collective “we’re all in this together” vibe that is both empowering and comforting when faced with difficult client or project issues. Plus, the snacks are way better.”

From the woman who started it all, Beth:

“While it happened purely by coincidence, I enjoy working with our team of creative, thoughtful and hard working ladies. It’s inspiring to work with other women who take such pride in their work and to watch everyone grow professionally. Competing in a male dominated industry is tough, but the confidence, drive and positivity of our team makes the challenge totally worth it.”

Keri offered this quote as a reflection of how she feels about our team:

“I appreciate the team of women I work with every day. We listen, we suggest – we challenge each other without fear. We support, we encourage, we strive to make our mission better every day.” – Paula from WorkItDaily.com

Our project manager Rachael shared these thoughts:

“I have worked on a lot of teams over the years before starting at Web Strategies, all of them made up of both men and women. As soon as I settled into my position here, I noticed a difference in my stress level during work hours. It took me a while to realize that it was because I felt very uninhibited on this team of women. Especially in STEM fields, it’s unfortunately still common for women to be put in the position of defending their ideas or experience; in essence, to be “little lady’ed”. Being part of this all-female team has allowed me to shed the defensiveness I subconsciously carried to work every day, which has greatly decreased my stress level. I perform better, can relax into the work, and really enjoy coming to the office every day. Even as far as all-female teams go, I know this one is special and I love being a part of it.”

For me, one of the great things about working on an all-female team is that we can be open with each other. We are comfortable speaking up when an issue arises, as well as goofing off or sharing a funny story. Our work culture has developed into a strong, dependable group that allows for our personalities to shine through. I also really love working on an all-female team in the tech industry! It makes us even more formidable and stand out in a crowd. We have had clients reach out and want to work with us because we are an all-female team, which I love.
