The Giving Season Is Upon Us!
Non-profit organizations around the world will be participating in the 2nd Annual Giving Tuesday, Dec 3, 2013. This international fund-raising day is propelled by individuals, non-profits, and for profits, raising awareness throughout all social media. According to Taylor Corrado’s article ” 8 Essential Steps to Get Your Non Profit Ready for Giving Tuesday“, “Over 2,700 partners drove conversation of the charitable day, which trended on Twitter (with the hashtag #GivingTuesday) nationally and led to engagement from Bill Gates, Chase, and even The White House.”
Last year’s event was a huge success, even though it started prepping in September 2012, a mere 3 months before the big day. With that in mind, it’s not too late to get your Non profit’s online infrastructure primed and ready to go. Here’s a few tips:
- Troubleshoot your online giving system. Make sure that if your using some kind of online giving app, or website, that it is functional and ready for your donors to engage with. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to make a transaction online, only to have it not go through.
- Make sure you start communicating (website, social media) early and often. Websites’ information should be up to date. Allocate time to communicate and engage your community through social media.
- Make sure your message is clear (everything matches). It’s important to make sure that whoever is handling your communication, has what’s being reported on the website, coincide with what your relaying through social media. They don’t have to match word for word, but they need to complement each other.
This year’s #GivingTuesday is shaping up to be bigger and better, and if you take some of our tips to heart, you should be ready to rock n’ roll come December 3.
