Why Print Media Isn’t Dead

In the ever-pervasive digital landscape, we forget that even though the age of print media might be over, it’s not dead. While our focus here at Web Strategies is primarily digital and social media, we complete our fair share of print work as well.

1. Tangible Appeal

Seeing a piece of work that you can hold and move and feel gives print media another dimension that digital media lacks. Holding a business card also conveys a sense of permanency. We enjoy seeing people flip over a business card and inspect them as a piece of our work as well as take it home and be reminded of the business later. Feeling the texture of these velvety cardstock or a nice gloss can convey tone as well.

2. Credibility and Trust

Having the capital to print out some sort of print media can also let customers know that you’re here to stay and you’re investing in resources to advance your business. This builds credibility and can be a sign of a well-established business. We also look to print media as traditional sources of authority: New York Times, or Wall Street Journal for example.

3. Complementing Digital Strategies

Having a tangible copy to follow up through a digital campaign can be a great way to reinforce messaging. Seeing posters or billboards for campaigns that accompany digital ads will help the message come across clearly. Print media can also present the same information in a different format, which may lead to a potential sale.

You can see that there are several reasons why print media isn’t dead. It’s just being utilized in different ways now. Whether it’s business cards, rack cards, posters, yard signs, or anything in-between, we can design and order the product on your behalf so you don’t have to do a thing.
