Since we are in the doldrums of winter, I thought it would be fun to get to know our team a bit. I’m sharing some insight on our go-to’s of our workday. Everything from music to food, get to know what keeps us going throughout our day and what the heck we’re doing when we’re at the office and at home. I asked our all-female team these very important questions so let’s see what everyone said!
What’s your go-to beverage in the morning?
Rachael Schoellen: Coffee. Immediately.
Beth Bates: Earl Gray iced tea or some kind of chocolate tea from the August Tea Company
Keri Ritenour: Harney & Sons Hot Tea. I currently have a large variety to choose from.
Faye Guerra: Strong coffee with a splash of cream.
Katlin Riley: COFFEE
Emily Butler: Always coffee first thing, but I decide if I need a second cup when I get to the office. Sometimes I’ll have tea or cider after our meeting in the morning.
What do you like to listen to while you’re working?
Rachel: Reruns of “The Office” or the work playlist I’ve been compiling over the past few months.
Beth: Forensic Files (Spoiler alert: The husband is generally the culprit.)
Keri: Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, or professional development podcasts and recordings.
Faye: It’s a mishmash of murder podcasts, soundtracks, music from the 40s or sometimes environmental sounds like storms or swamps.
Katlin: True Crime Documentaries, Netflix, or various podcasts
Emily: I enjoy the occasional podcast, YouTube clips, or instrumental movie soundtracks
What’s your go-to local Monday lunchtime spot?
Rachel: Aroma Deli!
Beth: I miss Monday lunches.
Keri: Winchester Thai
Faye: Lloyd’s. I only ever want Lloyd’s Tropical Island Cafe. Did I mention LLoyd’s?
Katlin: Pot O Pho
Emily: Sexi-Mexi! (Please, I need Monday hours back!)
What’s your go-to afternoon snack?
Rachel: If it’s a good day, an apple with almond butter. If it’s a real Monday, a homemade brownie and more coffee.
Beth: I’m not a snacker. But if I can cut out of work early, I’d call beer my afternoon snack.
Keri: I skip snacking, even though my co-workers tempt me with cookies and donuts.
Faye: Grapes and a spoonful of peanut butter orrrrr 800 cookies and 1000 chips.
Katlin: Chips!
Emily: A cookie or piece of candy to bump my sugar levels when that 2 pm slump hits.
What’s your go-to room/location on your work from home days?
Rachel: The couch. It has a me-shaped indentation at this point.
Beth: Living room couch (I bought a pop-up coffee table that doubles as a desk!)
Keri: I am fortunate enough that my cats have allowed me to set up a home office in their room. In exchange, I provide daily maid service (cleaning and meal delivery) and there are opportunities for social interaction throughout the day.
Faye: Dining room if I have a client zoom meeting. Couch blanket fort for regular work stuff.
Katlin: Living Room
Emily: Couch in the morning, bedroom in the afternoon.
BONUS: How many tabs do you have open right now?
Rachel: 8
Beth: 7
Keri: 49 (She said there were more than this now.)
Faye: 9
Katlin: 8
Emily: 12
Now you know that Keri is the queen of open tabs and that sometimes swamp sounds are heard from Faye’s office. We’re a quirky bunch but all of our habits throughout the day help us get through our workload and on to the next task! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank caffeine and the numerous tasty lunch spots around town for fueling our productivity, as well as Beth, our fearless leader, living her best life in Florida. Without her, none of this would be possible.
Go, team!
