How to Choose the Right Plugins

WordPress plugins have come a long way in the past five years. Trust us when we say we’ve seen them all (or sometimes it feels that way). Plugins are a great way to easily add functionality to your site. Why reinvent the wheel?! They run the gamut from itsy-bitsy to large-and-in-charge, and they can control almost anything you can think of. With over 55,000 plugins in the WordPress repository, and thousands more available for purchase through third-party sites, how do we know what plugins to choose?

Choosing the right plugins can be crucial for your site to look and perform in the way you want. In the beginning stages of your project, an in-depth conversation is required to make sure we know exactly your requirements for any functionality on the site so we can understand how best to choose plugins that will suit your needs. Need to receive customized alerts when a user performs a specific action? We can do it, just let us know!

One thing that makes me an effective developer is having a wealth of knowledge about a lot of different plugins and their strengths and weaknesses. This often means doing a lot of research when a new request comes up to make sure that the functional requirements are being met. In this process, I learn a lot about certain plugins that maybe I can recall at a later time that would be better suited for an alternate project. I also am looking for red flags while researching to make sure I’m using plugins that are well supported, have been proven to work, and “play nice” with other plugins.

Plugins can also work in tandem with others to create complex and multi-functional websites. So dream big! Need some extra functionality on your site? Need to automate some tasks in the back end to make your business run smoother? Just let us know! We’d be happy to have a conversation with you about your needs. Trust us to find the right plugin that helps YOU!
