How Often Should I Post and When?

How often should I post and when? The first question I get asked when providing any social media marketing tips and tricks. Saying “it depends” is slightly underwhelming as an answer, but it rings very true. On the other hand, there are helpful studies and statistics performed on a regular basis that guide us in the right direction on where to get started.

Looking at both ends; “it depends” means what your target audience wants and expects. What engagement patterns do you see in the metrics? How do your likes or unlikes fluctuate given your posting structure? What industry standards ring true for your social platform? Saying “it depends” isn’t the easy way out, it’s digging down to the root of your success or failure based on the social insights provided by each individual profile. Taking the time to research and track how to optimize your posts to reach your target audience effectively. This requires customized efforts to establish a well-suited marketing strategy. At Web Strategies, we call this step our Market Research and Analysis phase when helping our clients get on track with their online marketing efforts.

Along with this phase is the equally important information we rely on from market researchers and statistics. Without this pertinent information, we wouldn’t have a basis to start with. These studies are ever changing so staying on top of the latest is a constant effort on our part. Industry related, demographics, trends, new platforms, the variables go on but the breakdown is the same. We look at popular patterns to determine the best path per individual marketing goal.
