After reading an increasing amount of articles on how the Fortune 500 type companies claim their way to fame and the secrets to a great work environment we started to take some of the advice to heart. Like Richard Branson of the Virgin Group suggesting to “make sure that people enjoy their work and are happy to come to work every day. In fact, make your [work] environment a happy environment. Encourage enthusiasm among your workers”.
Yesterday we had a nice twist to our usual Project Meeting and Lunch ‘n Learn Monday routine…Juggling! We had a great lesson from Incredible Flying Objects. It was a nice break in the day to let our minds focus on a subject aside from our usual work and we performed team building exercises all while strengthening our hand eye coordination. Needless to say, since our skills were not necessarily up to par, we’ll have to continue practicing to “perfect” our less than perfect forms but it introduced a great stress reliever to the office.
“A growing body of research suggests that the longer you keep your rear end in your chair and your eyes glued to your screen, the less productive you may be. Getting up from your desk and moving not only heightens your powers of concentration, it enhances your health.”
Why not make the place you and your coworkers and/or employees have to spend most of the their day an enjoyable place to walk into each morning? When someone is happy it’s going to reflect into everything they do and as a result ,you are going to get a more efficiently run business.
“If you are interested in balancing work and pleasure, stop trying to balance them. Instead, make your work more pleasurable.” – Donald Trump
“To be happy, make other people happy.” – W. Clement Stone
