What the Graphic Design Process Looks Like

We’ve been talking about print collateral, graphic design, and logo design the past few weeks and this week we’ll be sharing what the graphic design process looks like here at Web Strategies. Being transparent about the process can help you feel confident about the steps we take to make sure the client is getting a quality product that they are happy with.

1. Requirements Gathering

This is where we sit down and really drill into what you’re after. We’ll talk about inspiration images, what colors you like, if you want to incorporate any elements, and how you want it to feel. We also discuss the exact verbiage appearing in the design as well as any subtitles or descriptions.

2. First Round

We convey all of this to our graphic designer, Mike, who is excellent at interpreting this feedback and turning it into a visual design. If we’re working on a logo, we’ll often receive several versions from him. The clearer the client is in the requirements gathering phase, the closer he’s able to create what they are looking for. We then send the first round of drafts to the client for review.

3. Edits

The client can take as much time as they need to review the drafts and discuss with their team. In a logo we completed recently, we got feedback that they liked logo numbers 2 and 3, but wanted to see an edit on version 5. This feedback then gets sent back to our designer for completion.

4. Second Round

The second round is usually drilled in a bit at this point. In the example above, the designer provided numbers 2 and 3 and included several options for the edit on number 5, providing several more versions for the client to review. These then get sent to the client for them to make their final decision.

5. Final Delivery

Once the logo has been selected, we let the graphic designer know and he provides full working files in multiple formats and sizes for an array of applications and platforms. These get turned over to the client for use! If we are working on a website redesign with the client as well, we keep a copy of the logo to use on the new site.

Working with us to complete a graphic design process is easy and simple. We value our clients direction and feedback and always enjoy seeing the unique designs that result. If you’re looking to get started on your next graphic design project, give us a call or fill out this quick form so we can get the ball rolling. Can’t wait to get started!
