How to Know if Your Site is Appropriately Sized for Mobile

There are a lot of websites these days and it’s always shocking to find sites that aren’t appropriately responsive on mobile devices. In this day and age, it’s imperative that businesses optimize their websites on mobile devices. Not only to function on mobile, but to thrive. Here’s some things to look for to know if your site is appropriately sized for mobile devices.

Headlines run off the page

Seems kinda obvious but if your headline is so big that it bleeds off the edge of the page, it might be the right time to size it down. Often times you’ll run into this with larger words that can’t fit on one line. This always looks clunky and unprofessional, not to mention hard to read!

Words Per Line

Along the same lines, when a paragraph or headline is reduced to one or two words per line, it’s time to make some adjustments. This is a difficult experience for the reader to read almost vertically and extends the paragraph far down the page which does not look as clean either.

Image Size

Images that display a particular way on desktop may need to be adjusted for mobile display. Make sure that if there are subjects in the photo that they aren’t being cut off. Similarly for background images, they may display a different portion of that photo, creating an undesirable effect. Make the appropriate adjustments to ensure that your images are optimal for that device.
